Group
Classes:

We offer the following classes in
small groups of 4-15 people:
Pilates:

-
Pre-mat Pilates: This class
is designed to teach the basic principles of movement.
Fundamental exercises are taught that aid in the understanding
of functional movement. This is the first building block in the
Pilates mat work series. You will learn how to use breath to
facilitate movement and to activate the deep "corset" muscles
that stabilize the spine and pelvis.
-
Mat Pilates, Levels I and II:
-
Level I: Building on the
Premat work, Level I teaches an essential version of the
"mat repertoire" that establishes the necessary strength,
flexibility, and coordination to keep the body balanced. The
student is challenged to apply the principles learned in
Premat to the exercises taught in Level I
-
Level II: Level II builds
on the knowledge gained in Level I. New exercises are
introduced, along with more difficult versions of the Level
I exercises. There are greater challenges to balance and
coordination at this level. Some exercises will be
introduced that are "evolved" from the original series.
-
Pilates with
Small Tools:
This is a mat Pilates class that uses small balls, foam rollers
and elastic bands to simulate some of the exercises performed on
the Pilates equipment. It adds great variety and depth to the
traditional repertoire of mat Pilates. A fun class for those
familiar with both mat and equipment Pilates.
-
Pilates Allegro Quad Levels 1 and
2:
-
Level 1: Classes are
conducted in a small group using Allegro Reformers, a
Pilates machine that assists in the execution of the
exercises. This class is a great introduction to Reformer
work. At this level you will integrate your core control,
strength, correct breathing and proper alignment through
movement. You will also learn how to set up your Allegro and
safely get on and off the machine.
-
Level 2: Level 2 builds
on the knowledge you gained in Level 1 with more complex
variations, longer sets and new exercises. Your focus moves
towards more strength, flexibility and coordination at this
level.
-
Pilates Tower-Quad:
The Tower
Class is a small group class conducted on the Allegros. It is a
combination of exercises performed on the Reformer for legs and
those done on the Cadillac/Trapeze table for shoulders and
spinal motion. A very fun workout for people who have already
completed private training on both pieces of equipment.
-
Pilates for Osteoporosis:
NEW! This class
is designed to help you build bone density in the spine and the
hips, improve your posture and balance, increase flexibility and
mobility, and understand the movements to avoid that increase
the risk of fractures. The class uses the Pilates reformer and
tower apparatus with only four people per class.
-
Pilates for Scoliosis:
NEW! This class
is designed to help you better understand the anatomy of your
spine, how you can elongate it to help straighten it with core
strength, and how you can use your breath to help support your
spine. The class uses the Pilates reformer and tower apparatus
with only four people per class.

Yoga:

-
Yoga Flow: Yoga Flow begins
with a meditation on breath and ends in Savasana (rest). In
between, the class focuses on a series of postures that are knit
together with flowing transitions. The postures and transitions
are performed at a steady, slow pace that allows the student to
fully experience each posture while still maintaining the
continuity of the movement. The focus of this class is on
building "dynamic" stabilization in functional movement.
-
Yoga as Therapy:
Yoga as
Therapy is a class that introduces the student to the philosophy
of yoga practice. It begins with the function and importance of
breath in movement and meditation. Yoga asanas (postures) are
selected to facilitate the mobility of the hips, spine and
shoulders; and to teach a functional organization of the body.
Each class closes with Savasana (rest).

Private Trainings:

Private training is offered on a
one-on-one basis using a variety of movement forms and equipment.
Individual assessments from a certified Instructor can occur without
a physician's referral (these are not billable to insurance
companies).
Each client is assessed and treated as
an individual, each program is designed for the specific needs of
that person. Our instructors are trained beyond choreography!
We thoroughly assess your body movement
to determine where your strengths and weaknesses lie. A program of
training starts improving your mobility where you have limitations
and then advances to stabilizing vulnerable joints. Finally we use
your improved mobility and stabilization to build up coordinated
movements that you use in daily life.
